This week marks a new era in the life of Report from the Mountains. I'm now recording from the Suce Creek Fort instead of the Grizfork Studio. To mark the change, I've changed the theme music and altered the format a bit. I hope you like the changes.
The new theme music is "Mokondi"by Faruq Z. Bey & The Northwoods Improvisers from their brand new release Emerging Field. This is one of the best recording I've heard in years. Check out their catalog at Entropy Stereo. And for those of you in Michigan, keep on eye on their show dates -- seeing this band live is a life-changing experience.
This week's poem is a newly-written one, based on a fragment found in one of my old journals from ten years ago or so. It's called "Regret," and big bonus points to anyone who can explain the solar panel reference. Leave a comment below.
Music this week is from the Red Garland release Red in Bluesville (Prestige 1959). A great track called "Trouble in Mind." The album features Garland on piano, Sam Jones on bass and Art Taylor on drums.
